Apparently I talk to much

Getting ready for school most mornings is a mad house and breakfast conversation can get very interesting. My son was singing a song from one of our favorite groups "Blackeyes Peas". I don't like the words of the song because they are essentially talking about a bootie call. I have instructed to the kids that even though that song is on the CD, it is not on the mommy approval list for singing....so don't sing it or listen to for that matter. My son ... my darling son was singing this song, I was half paying attention until my daughter said "Jarin you are not supposed to sing that song. You know mommy doesn't want us to." Ok she has to a little me and can get a bit bossy to her brother. Jarin in turn starts singing louder...that is what finally got my attention. Me:
"Jarin honey you know you are not supposed to sing that song"
.
Jarin:
"I know but I'm just saying the words that they wrote"
.
(the boy has an answer for everything) Me:
"ok, but Jarin the words are not appropriate for kids."
Jarin:
"So why did they write them?"
Ajori:
"Uh Jarin I think you better look at mommy's face."
(She hides her head in her cereal bowl) Me:
"Because they are adults and...never mind do you even know what that song is about?"
Now there is an old adage that says never ask a question you don't want to know the answer to. I remembered that to late. Jarin:
"Yes.... Yes I do"
.
Me:
"Uggghh"
(but I'm going to press on figure I'm gonna teach him a lesson and gross him out)
"Well that song is about blah, blah, blah and blah, blah, blah"
.
Jarin:(very calmly he says)
"I knoooow mommm. The boy blah, blah, blah and the girl blah, blah, blah"
Ajori:
"Yeah and don't forget blah, blah, blah"
I am stocked but I have to hide it or at least try to but my daughter breakouts in the giggles when she looks up at me. Me:
"Uh how do you guys know so much...where did you here that"
?
I'm thinking....I need to have a talk with somebody. Them:
"kids talk at school... on the bus... but mostly you. You gave us all the details"
.
Me: Coughing and choking -
"uh well"
... my daughter is in a fit of giggles right now and my son has a sly, calm smile on his face. I think I'm scared of what he is thinking.
"Apparently I talk to much"
. I think I need to have an editing session with myself.

This is his world, we just live in it

Today was my baby boy's 9th birthday. My son is always in a rush. He has been on go since my 15th week of pregnancy. Doctors started me on meds and complete bed rest to help keep him in. By 18 weeks of pregnancy he got fidgety again and I went into active labor. The doctors didn't think I would make it to a viability and gave us an option to terminate or have surgery. I figured I would let God handle this so I had an amniocentesis to make sure there were other abnormalities and surgery to close my cervix. I hate needles so this was not a pleasant procedure. Then at 21 weeks I went into labor again and had another surgery. Doctors again said they didn’t think I would make it to viability and again suggested the possibility of termination. They told us that if I went into labor again before 24 weeks that they wouldn’t try to save my son. Did I mention I really don’t like needles (so much so that with my daughter I opted for no drugs when I was in labor with her…uh didn’t do that again nothing should hurt enough to actually see stars) all ready this child is giving me major issues and pushing my buttons.

But my son has always been a bit head strong (I have no idea where he got that from)… I've said this is his world we just live in it and around 3 am on January 9th 2003 when I was 24 weeks and 3 hours, he decided this was it and he was coming out NOW!!! Oh yeah he was also breach so I had to have a c-section more needles and cutting uggggghhhhh. At 6:03 am, my son was born (they were playing Motown in the delivery room) at 24 weeks and not alive. After reviving him the doctors gave him a 2% chance of survival. At 2 weeks he went into respiratory failure due to undetected e-coli infection. At first the doctors didn't know what was wrong with him and said he wouldn't make it through the night however after telling the doctors I was still recovering from an e-coli infection they gave him medicine which saved his life. He has been a ladies’ man since he was around 3 weeks old or 4 weeks old and flirting (yes he was flirting at 3 weeks). He would tug on his tubes so that the nurses would come over to look at him then smile and since he wasn’t in distress they would turn off the alarm and walk away. When I first saw that I knew I was in trouble.

Today he is 9 years old has a bit of asthma. A pre tween (uggghhh) and growing up. He told me he didn't want to go into the ladies bathroom any more ...it's embarrassing and he could take care of himself. He also told me I could only him" boo baa" in private. He keeps me on my toes. makes me crazy. Makes me laugh. He loves video games and anything electronic. This is the last year he will be in the single digit age. Ugggh my baby, my baby, my baby you have kept me busy. But I'm glad that we still have early morning snuggles and coffee together. God has blessed me with miracle children.

Bringing in the New Year

And so the year has begun. Slept in a bit. Went to a birthday party at the skating rink, booked my son's party for next week (uggh), came home and took a breathing treatment (having some respiratory issues) and rested for the evening.

After taking some cold medicine, I doze off but kinda hear "mom can we give the puppy a bath"... not sure if that is a good idea but the meds are kicking in so I'm out of it. I hear a lot yelling, bumping and barking. Through the medicine fog I hear "Moooommmm it's to hard to give the puppy a bath. She keeps jumping out of the tub."

This can not be good. I'm afraid to go upstairs.

A wet puppy greets me at the top of the stairs.. she's trying to escape to somewhere safe but all bed room doors are closed and the baby gate is up so she can't go anywhere.

There is water everywhere. I think there might be about 1 inch on the floor and not sure if there are towels left in the closet.

Puppy is yelping...I get to grab her and pour water over her. I get splashed..got soap in my eyes, my pj's are soaked, both of the kids are soaked ok so far so good we are on target for disaster.

Finally the deed is done. Got the puppy dried..ok so the walls got a little wet. I smell like wet dog. Time for my own shower and a glass of wine
