This is his world, we just live in it

Today was my baby boy's 9th birthday. My son is always in a rush. He has been on go since my 15th week of pregnancy. Doctors started me on meds and complete bed rest to help keep him in. By 18 weeks of pregnancy he got fidgety again and I went into active labor. The doctors didn't think I would make it to a viability and gave us an option to terminate or have surgery. I figured I would let God handle this so I had an amniocentesis to make sure there were other abnormalities and surgery to close my cervix. I hate needles so this was not a pleasant procedure. Then at 21 weeks I went into labor again and had another surgery. Doctors again said they didn’t think I would make it to viability and again suggested the possibility of termination. They told us that if I went into labor again before 24 weeks that they wouldn’t try to save my son. Did I mention I really don’t like needles (so much so that with my daughter I opted for no drugs when I was in labor with her…uh didn’t do that again nothing should hurt enough to actually see stars) all ready this child is giving me major issues and pushing my buttons.

But my son has always been a bit head strong (I have no idea where he got that from)… I've said this is his world we just live in it and around 3 am on January 9th 2003 when I was 24 weeks and 3 hours, he decided this was it and he was coming out NOW!!! Oh yeah he was also breach so I had to have a c-section more needles and cutting uggggghhhhh. At 6:03 am, my son was born (they were playing Motown in the delivery room) at 24 weeks and not alive. After reviving him the doctors gave him a 2% chance of survival. At 2 weeks he went into respiratory failure due to undetected e-coli infection. At first the doctors didn't know what was wrong with him and said he wouldn't make it through the night however after telling the doctors I was still recovering from an e-coli infection they gave him medicine which saved his life. He has been a ladies’ man since he was around 3 weeks old or 4 weeks old and flirting (yes he was flirting at 3 weeks). He would tug on his tubes so that the nurses would come over to look at him then smile and since he wasn’t in distress they would turn off the alarm and walk away. When I first saw that I knew I was in trouble.

Today he is 9 years old has a bit of asthma. A pre tween (uggghhh) and growing up. He told me he didn't want to go into the ladies bathroom any more ...it's embarrassing and he could take care of himself. He also told me I could only him" boo baa" in private. He keeps me on my toes. makes me crazy. Makes me laugh. He loves video games and anything electronic. This is the last year he will be in the single digit age. Ugggh my baby, my baby, my baby you have kept me busy. But I'm glad that we still have early morning snuggles and coffee together. God has blessed me with miracle children.
